    Are you an atheist?

I think I'll use this line the next time I miss a client's deadline. Just because I haven't delivered the work doesn't mean that it's not finished. Another line that has no practical value at all.

    Are you an atheist?

Once you've pointed it out, they ARE aware of it. Not being aware has nothing to do with it being or not being an insult. Once we've gotten to the point of discussing the notion of insults, the issue of awareness is done. Awareness first, insult next. Do you understand that basic sequence of...

    Are you an atheist?

When you say something like this it is so unfathomably insulting that you cannot possibly have any emotional connection to your words. You come across as an insufferable know it all who hasn't (unable?) experienced the hurt that such rhetoric causes.

    Are you an atheist?

Why some? This comes across as very sinister. Perhaps unintentional. Absolutely. I don't want to feel pitiless. All very grandiose but what you are doing is nothing special. You hold a religious belief ... nothing special. You are discussing that belief on the internet ... nothing special...

    Are you an atheist?

This is why I reject your point of view out of hand. If you were able to view the results of Libre's decision, right here and now, on earth, you WOULD feel pity for him or have severe emotional issues. It is only because your belief pushes the results of Libre's decision beyond your scope of...

When to eat your cake - heard of intermittent fasting?

Ok I get it. I think 10 pints would shift me off this mortal coil rather than help me with my sense of humor!

When to eat your cake - heard of intermittent fasting?

In terms of fasting I think I unintentionally already conform to the 16/8 pattern. I rarely eat before 1PM and usually am done eating by 9 or 10PM I've always suspected that this habit does me no good.

You'll need to talk me through that one.

When to eat your cake - heard of intermittent fasting?

I'm 42, 5 8", weight varies from being 20 to 25 pounds overweight. Walk between 45 mins to an hour every day. This can go up on the weekend. Light drinker - 6 bottles of beer a month, can go up if stressed at work. Non-smoker. Feel uncomfortable with my weight but love sweets (candy, ice-cream)...

When to eat your cake - heard of intermittent fasting?

That is quite some achievement to do that much exercise and still be overweight. How much beer do you actually drink? :p

Col is alright. Just treat him as the local grumpy old man and everything is good. This is a forum guys, part of the fun is learning each others ticks.

    Are you an atheist?

I have a reasonably open mind but that doesn't extend to trusting confessed plagiarizers. So thanks for the 2 hour invite but I'll pass.

US keeps exalted company, sort of

A sardonic tone doesn't encourage discourse as you well know Anthony. You can do much better than this.

US keeps exalted company, sort of

Well that's his fault. The onus is on the speaker to make themselves understood. We can only respond to what is presented. He may never come back to clarify. Who knows? It's just a poor post in my opinion.

US keeps exalted company, sort of

I found the OP rather trite. There was no premise, no invitation for opinion and the title was facetious and sarcastic in tone. Sure the topic is worthy of discussion but there was little skill displayed to draw such out.

    Gun laws do they work

My link was supposed to match Col's flippancy. It's not a very important point The POTUS is actually for more gun control and has a great deal of support. Gun control has also been temporarily installed in the past. Link So nothing has been rejected out-of-hand by an uncivilized nation.

    Gun laws do they work

My response was to illustrate the stupidity of the assertion that all enlightenment is to be found outside the US. Thus in that regard it applies to your response also.
