UK Online Safety Laws - I, and therefore the site, are at risk

I am from the UK. "Dear"can be used as a patronising insult. It is context dependent, and between foes it is highly likely to be considered an insult, whilst hiding behind deniable plausibility. Only the poster can be 100% sure of the intent behind the word. How do you avoid the insult? Don't...

UK Online Safety Laws - I, and therefore the site, are at risk

If we can't control it, I will close down all the non-Access areas. And I will also be noting the actions of those posters who do not have consideration for my own legal risk. For those who do not care, they are not my friend.

Me, because I decide how much risk I want to take.

UK Online Safety Laws - I, and therefore the site, are at risk

With the new UK online safety laws, I am both responsible and at legal and financial risk for members posts. For as long as I could, I let the discussion flow freely on this site. However, for self protection my policy has to change. When I (or the moderation team) see posts that are too close...

    AWF Slowing Down

I appreciate both your interest and concern for the success of the site. The non-Access areas were created to provide some kind of community for members to hang out. Over the next 5 years, I believe we will see such massive change both online and offline that we will wither on the vine. I wish...

    AWF Slowing Down

The short answer to all this is that since Google gives AI answers right in its search engine, these type of sites have seen their traffic plummet. It will lead to the demise of many sites as they become financially unsustainable. This then beggers the question, "Where will the bots get their...

    Online Annoyances

That is a good question. Twenty years ago, the site was small because it was new. It needed far less resources than it does now. And I ran the hosting out of pocket. It was also cheap hosting. Now we have premium hosting, which helps with site speed and reliability, and huge amounts of data...

    Online Annoyances

I say it again, no ads no site. We can stop the ads, but who pays for the site costs? The fewer active members is because Google now gives AI answers.

    Online Annoyances

Cookie popups. They are everywhere. I never read them and always click OK. They slow down my phone and computer usage, and they irritate me endlessly. On my computer I have some plugin to autopress the button, but not on my phone.

Yikes! The UK is serious about tweeting

Wasn't it Jo Brand who said something along the lines that she wished it was acid thrown in Nigel Farage's face, instead of water? Was she arrested by an armed squad...
