    I never have understood this...

Hold the bus here a minute, people - who ever said that prisons were for "rehabilitation"? If you think that the reason prisons exist is to "rehabilitate" prisoners and then reintroduce them to society, you are living in a dream world. Lisa

    I never have understood this...

I'm with you. In that other thread about the polictical spectrum, there was a question on the test about "I believe in 'an eye for an eye'", and I most definitely do not believe in that. How can anyone kill someone, and then say it's not right to kill? It's like me swearing, and then telling...

    Test...

I'm 39% dixie. No surprise there. All my answers were indicative of the Great Lakes region and the Northeast. I could probably put together a test for Upstate New Yorkers that is something like this. - there are so many regional phrases around here that no one else would understand. Good...

    Paintball

I have been dying to play paintball, but I have heard that it really hurts. So you're comment, JSanders, about not hurting anyone, may not be that true. Maybe just not killing anyone. Lisa

    Guide to US tourists generally

Well, Colin, as an American, I feel compelled to apologize for the lack of manners on the part of these countrymen. What a crappy example to set when visiting a foreign country. I can speak for my family, since my sister has travelled abroad, and they make every effort to blend in, by not...

    Guide to US tourists generally

Col: My initial question would be - why, when visiting the UK of all places, would one be dressed in a Hawaiian shirt, straw hat, and shorts? Since when is the UK a tropical paradise? You really get tourists dressed like that? Lisa

Things we have learnt about the USA in films and TV

Whoops!! My bad!! But thanks for pulling me out!! Lisa

Things we have learnt about the USA in films and TV

Oh come on, Col, you didn't get that from a movie - probably from a documentary, which would mean it is probably true. Yeah - and if we ever get a young, handsome President, he will probably be a jet fighter - then we'll know we are headed for hell in a handbasket.... Those are in the big...

Things we have learnt about the USA in films and TV

Yeah - that is my favorite. And when they find the monster and do it in (supposedly), they drop the knife and walk away with their back to it, so it can rise again and come after them (ie, Halloween the original).

Things we have learnt about the USA in films and TV

True - why would we portray them as ugly as they are? We can always dream, can't we? And don't forget that guy who played the president in Independence Day - can't remember his name, but he's pretty cute. True - Tramps, or the "homeless" as we call them, sleep anywhere. Believe it or not...

Things we have learnt about the USA in films and TV

Col: I think I can easily markoff the ones that are correct for you. Any other US citizens can chime in at any time. 1) True - they supposedly landed there before, so it seems to be the only place they know about to land. 2) True - I believe. However, I think they steer different things...

    Notes From A Thoughtful Husband

I just received this via email, and thought it was appropriate for this thread: After the long months of cold and winter, we will soon be coming up to summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking as it's the only type...

    Notes From A Thoughtful Husband

Ok girls, once more, with feeling: Yes, dear...... No, I don't think I can do it. It just doesn't come out of my mouth the right way. "Yes, dear" comes out sounding somewhat like some expletives I have heard when it is issued from my lips.....;) Lisa

    Let's Go Sabres!!!

Yeah - girly. Well, it's too bad you don't see it much over there, you're missing some good fights, eyes getting popped out, shoulder-to-nose concussion-making hits, perhaps even some blood!! Oh, yeah, and then there is the actual play.....;) :D Lisa

    Let's Go Sabres!!!

I know this should be in the Sports section, but I wanted to make sure it got the most viewing. Hurray for my Sabres!! 2-0 against the Flyers in the Quarterfinals!! May they be able to keep this up and go all the way!!! (In case you live under a rock, or in the UK :D , this is about...

    Guild Wars

You know, it really isn't bad. My girlfriend tried to get me to buy WOW, but for $15 a month to play, when this is free, I couldn't do it. I like to be able to play whenever I want, without worrying about wasting my money. Yeah - I have seen a lot of those. It's kind of neat when I stand...

Things that make you happy to start your day!

Cindy - she is beautiful! So let me ask you - does she enjoy getting dressed up like that? My girl had on her little Easter dress yesterday and she just looked so funny in it. By the end of the day, she was out of her tights, and had taken the socks of that I had tried to put on. I just don't...

    Has anyone ever relocated?

Yeah - we had Easter dinner at my parents yesterday and it was very hard for me to watch him eat. His hands aren't working very well anymore, although he can still feed himself, but it won't be long before that freedom will be taken away. I just can't stand it. Lisa
