    Import data

Here is one I just wrote yesterday. Takes info from a tmpIMPORT table to my OutFileLog table. I qualify what I want to import (WHERE statement) and update the reportdate field to today. INSERT INTO OutFileLog ( AccountNumber, Runtime, [Avg], ReportDate ) SELECT tmpImport.AccountNumber...

    Import data

I agree with CJ. Appending data - even between db's - with SQL is as simple as it can be.

    Tables Setup Correctly (normalized?)

Exceptions = One Letter codes that tell me what may be going on with one account. For example: H ID's it as high usage, Z is for a Zero, B is battery, etc.. Runtime; will just be exactly that, a number that will equate to usage. Yes, I am redesigning from original 1 table setup. What I...

    Tables Setup Correctly (normalized?)

I'm pretty bad at explaining things eh? LoL Each account number = 1 address; I.E. Apt 101 at Complex X Accounts never change; it's like the physical address for the apartment. There are other DB's that connect names to accounts; but those are not part of my DB. I do however link in other...

    Tables Setup Correctly (normalized?)

Mark: I called it tblLOG only because it's where i am logging all my daily information. tblLOG, tblPROPERTY, tblNOTES, tblVACANT are all table names - not field names. Essentially I get a text file report daily that gives 500+ lines of information on accounts. That could be their use for the...

    Tables Setup Correctly (normalized?)

Okay, so I have an existing DB that was thrown together in a rush and done incorrectly. I am trying to recreate it from scratch, but I want to set this up correctly. So far I thought I was on the right track, but it is not operating as I would expect - or I am overlooking something that I hope...

    Import CSV Problem

Doc I agree completely with you. This is a time clock system I'm working with; both old and new. The data above is from a new digital time clock. Our old time clock (manual punch cards) were manually entered into a database. That DB was created by someone that knew how to work with...

    Import CSV Problem

Odd... I saved the CSV as an XLS file and no errors at all doing the import. Now to see if I can manipulate the data correctly... Probably should be its own thread but I'll ask here real quick.. In my sample data above, just take the first two lines: 7,AJW,8/31/2015,9:15 AM,12:01 PM,2.77...

    Queries with User Criteria

Below is the SQL. No, there is no 2nd query involved. In this query I look at a vendor table and the user enters [Partial Vendor Name] to search. Funny thing I just noticed. First, I thought I would shorten this a little and delete a few of the fields the query returns so I copied the...

    Import CSV Problem

I've done countless imports into DBs in the past and never had issues before today. Not sure what is happening here. Below is a sample of the data I am trying to import. Its exported from another program that I have zero control over and cannot change any formatting. I've tried to pre-set up...

    Queries with User Criteria

I did doublecheck. If I run the query directly than I get the same two prompts that I get when running it from the form. I understand what you are saying about the two prompts with different spellings/etc but that is not the case here. The form button just runs the query and there is no...

    Queries with User Criteria

This one has stumped me for a while. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and may know why it is happening. I've got several queries where users can input a criteria ... I.E. using [Enter Part Number] or [Enter Vendor] as my criteria. This has always worked and is still working...

    What is using a Query

I'm trying to clean up a database as well as have to modify it a bit. For the record; this DB was created YEARS ago by another guy no longer with the company. This DB has a TON of queries that I cannot tell if they are being used or not any longer. Is there any way to determine what - if...

Note Popup on change of data

I am not.... This is the way it was set up 10+years ago and has been operating like that ever since. It is how my predecessor set it up for the company and it is pretty much the only way everyone here knows how to use it. I'm fighting SO many issues like this with countless databases it is...

Note Popup on change of data

I'm not sure if this is possible or not. But if there is anyone that knows he/she would be found here! Is it possible to show an alert/reminder any time data in a particular field is entered or changed? It would have to show up if the data was changed in table view or query view. Until I can...

Allowing Duplicates based on multiple fields

Essentially the data is taken from the excel sheets and manually entered - much like in post #5. Each block in the excel sheet that contains a number is a single line entered. When I get back to work I will have to look up aggregation queries. Not sure I fully understand that.

Bob... Just got home from work, won't be able to mess with this until Monday. However, the form is based off a table directly and not a query...
