Need helping adding tax field to Access app

You have an adventure ahead. Depending on your province, you may also have to consider HST shortly. Keep in mind also that the transaction file must have both the current date and the date on which the rate of GST or PST was determined (in case of returns, for example). Then there's the...

    Change IF Statement

My apologies also. I left out the closing parenthesis before the second ISNULL or it would have worked. The only drawback with the shorter version, namliam, is that if there is only a surname, there'll be a blank space before it. Otherwise, it serves well.

    Macro to filter by Form

Openform is the macro command that opens a form. The properties include the Name of the form, the view (usually Form), Data Mode (Edit or Read only), and the Where Condition does the work: Can you be more specific as to what condition you need to be met for a record to be included in the display?

Building a search function in access

The active ingredient can be a Select Query, run from a macro built into a command button, if you like. The field name may be long or short and complex or simple, so you may need to play with the search criteria. A known name, for example, "Johnson" (if the field is say LastName) can be...

Creating a Query from multiple tables (same key)

The first thing you might want to do is add the Make field to the tables. Depending how many records you have accumulated, each table could be adjusted by adding the Make field values (Ford, Chevy, etc). You can use an Append Query to add the appropriate value to that field's records. Then when...

    Change IF Statement

Looks like you didn't get a follow-up answer. Try this: ClientName: IIf(IsNull([Surname]),IIf(IsNull([Forename]),[BusinessName],[Forename],IIf(IsNull([Forename]),[Surname],[Forename]&" "&[Surname])) Sorry for the delay.

How to report on inclusive dates

David: Thanks for your intervention on NumLock's thread last evening. I didn't notice immediately that it was yours (thinking it was the poster). In the above example for this thread, I'm unable to open the Public Variables database (due to protection issues in my system) but I understood the...

Staffs monthly time sheet query calculation

OK, instead of using a parameter that is prompted for by the 2nd Query, you tell the Query where to find the two dates by including the path. The criteria would become something like: Between Forms![Report Generator]![Start Date] And Forms![Report Generator]![End Date] depending what Name...

    Update Query

There might be a comprehension difficulty on my part, since I am not aware of your activities, so let me attempt my version of what I think would work: You have a number of Products that are stored at Department "Home" and which are withdrawn by other Departments "Bakery", "Grocery", etc. and...

    Update Query

Your transactions all flow through the Mutations table as In and Out (I chose to have two fields, but your method using + and - works also), so to add a starting balance it would be a mutation of + that amount. Presumably the 'return to' location is also a Department (like "stores"). One...

Staffs monthly time sheet query calculation

Did you actually try the second query method? By using as criteria for the DateWorked field (assuming you have one--you didn't mention it), in square brackets, you are forcing a pop-up for Start and End of the period you require.

    Decimal places

I was mistaken, as I have 2002 with SP3. Several French countries where comma replaced period in punctuation numbers produce the same error.

    Decimal places

No, never received a response. Since I seldom configure in French format, it wasn't a biggie, so dropped it. No longer have the email trail from 18 mo ago. I'm using v2003 so it must have been around a while as a problem. You'd think the French world would have invaded USA again.

    Decimal places

Yes, I did report it, when I discovered that French Canada setting also produces that result.

Multiple check boxes to select records

BC: I'm guessing that your form is a selection form only, hence a parameter that feeds the query. Since the query can hold 9 "or" criteria only, I'd suggest splitting the task into stages: Query 1 uses the equivalent Tables and their Y/N corresponding fields for the first 9 boxes; Query 2 uses...

Staffs monthly time sheet query calculation

I'm making some assumptions here: A person works both morning and afternoon and clocks in and out daily at random times? Wages rather than salary, so not paid for lunch hour? Possibly 20-50 entries per person in the same month? If so, the Query will calculate hours for each record with a...

    Conditional formatting

Sorry for by ignorance here. Would that be (for XP) with the Firewall/Security or elsewhere? I see no Help item for it in Windows or in Access. Thanks.

    Conditional formatting

I also am interested in that option and tried to access that attached file, here in Canada, but received the message that it was from outside my intranet or from an untrusted site. Is there a way for me to view the file here?
