Can I use IIF within SetValue expression?

I'm using A2003 (yes, still). An accounting type form requires the "Type" be entered as either (numeric) 1, 11, or 2. On the same form, one of the three Yes/No fields must be checked as confirmation. My hope is that I can use the "SetValue" action in a macro. My first attempt (to set the...

    Lost focus, can't regain it

OK, found the problem: When adding the macro for one such link, I put it on the 'On Focus' row instead of the 'On Current' and naturally as long as the form holding the macro was open, its target had to also.

    Lost focus, can't regain it

Designed an unbound form in another database where it served as a menu (with several command buttons to goto other places); no problem so far. Then I copied/pasted it into another database, deleted all the macros from the command buttons, and replaced them with 'embedded macros' that opened...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Since the only obvious change was the macros, can you tell me please what the language is called and if there's a book on it.

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Thanks, Bob. Yes, I had added the file location to the Trusted Sites earlier. Didn't know about having to trust files too.

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Remarkable! Now all six databases are nestled as accdb's and the linked tables are all cooperating. Just one of the FE's displayed a yellow message bar (Security Warning: some active content has been disabled. Click for more details.) but when I clicked the "Enable Content" button it...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Already a new question! I chose the smallest FE which has just two linked tables. The PC is password protected. In A2003, the StartUp Menu stops display of Database Window and use of Access Special Keys (like F11), and the Tools menu has been hidden. A menu limits functionality. To open the...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Thanks Pat, I've moved most of the tables (the ones with permanent data) to two new BE databases, leaving four FE databases (each with a unique set of links and other objects). Only one Table is linked to all four FEs. Initially, I'll be testing all four FEs without converting to A2010 as you...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Thanks Bob, I unfairly tried to simplify in my response to Pat. There IS a BE with all but one of the Tables; with a FE that is shared and relies on that BE. However, the BE is not solely a BE, since it has its own forms, queries, reports and macros. Step one in 2003 seems evident: create...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

By FE & BE, I guessing at Front-End, Back-End databases; in which case it doesn't apply. It's more of a transactional database (used by 6 people) an archival database (one person) and a front-end (volunteer) that links to both for accounting purposes. Also, I think getting the firm to upgrade...

    Converting 2003 to 2010

Starting with XP on a single PC, I expanded to Multi-user PCs with various operating systems (but not Apple) without problem with my Access 2003 multi-database file program. Now I'm asked if I can change to Win7 x64 PCs that already have Office 2010 loaded. My first thought was to transfer...

    Upgrade to 10 from 2003

Thanks again, Bob. I have the extra PC anyway, so might as well keep them separate.

    Upgrade to 10 from 2003

Thanks Bob. The question of how to accommodate a 2007 user had been discussed, but I thought going first through the 2010 conversion would prepare me better for a possible conversion to 2007 later. I've never used a "virtual" approach...must look that up. Otherwise, keep the app on one PC and...

    Upgrade to 10 from 2003

In contemplating conversion of 2003 databases to Office 10, I wonder if my 32-bit XP can permit both Office Pro installations (2003 & 2010) without conflict. Would partitioning be better? or must I use a new PC with Win 7 and keep the 2003 database in the XP PC until successfully converted...

Combo Box (or anything else that might work)

Humour me, please, but how do I entrust the download site for Access 2003?

Combo Box (or anything else that might work)

Just a question about the combos. The database opens in read only mode, so I could not test whether when the user types the first letter of a country name, the name is hilighted. Otherwise, one would have to scroll down through numerous names. Looks good though.

    Question Is Access 2010 stable?

Not an answer, but an addition to it: What did your IT department offer as their alternative app? They might be considering that Microsoft tends to deprecate features between versions, breaking established links upon which you depend.

    Lookup fields v lookup tables

Now that's a post that should be saved. Thanks for the insight, Pat. One tends to overlook that, years after the design, the user/customer will likely upgrade his operating system and thereby MS Office version. In 4., you mention that "...regarding date fields, I never use an input mask." Do...

Access query - Any 3 items from the list specified.

There's likely a more sophisticated method, but you could start with a query that Counts how many employees have a hit on ItemA OR ItemB OR ItemC. Then use that Query as the source for a Select query that displays just the Employees with a count of >2. Keep in mind some results may have more...

    Cascading Query ( I think)

By some chance, is your website down at present? Can't access either the database or your main site. Cheers!
