    Memo to Text Data Type

Good Day! I have a couple of fields spread across the database named "Notes" which is currently set as memo data type, I would like to change it to text data type. What I already know: 1. Text data type can only have a maximum 255 characters. 2. Memo data type can store up to 1000 characters...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

@Pat With regards to your suggested saved querydef as oppose to executing sql on the fly, I think that is a terrific advice; I didn't really knew that in the sense that it is more efficient and that will help alleviate my database from bloating. I promise to look into that because i wanna...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

Howdy Pat! I went through the tblUnpaidBalance table definition and there is no default PayDate value set whatsoever. In fact, it is not allowed have it automatically generated eversince. However, I've checked the cmdReset button and i found this: Private Sub cmdReset_Click() Dim db As...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

@sparks80 Great work! Changing from DMax to DMin did worked beautifully. I've checked a couple of affected transactions and so far, so good. It is indeed updating all Blank PayDate/s in the same transaction with the previous payment dates made. This is the now sql code for the working update...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

@Pat Your suggestion almost worked! Except for one minor quirk. Notice the 12:00 on the new record? I don't how it got there because it should be Null because it is a new record; but every time i execute the code, every new record from a transaction will get this 12:00 instead of being blank...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

Thanks for getting back at the case sparks. Though, your solution is an inch away for getting it to work; I think that the main problem with this update query solution is that no matter what sign we use when referring to the primary key(UnpaidBalanceID) is that it will ultimately miss some of...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

Howdy! I've tested this and it populates all the null paydates with the maximum paydate in that transaction. So i tried reversing it into <= or < the result is slightly better since it gets all the payment made except the oldest payment. and i still have blank paydates on the oldest records for...

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

Oh sorry about the image partially covering the column name which is actually UnpaidBalanceID it is the Primary key of tblUnpaidBalances. If you are pertaining to the balance amount of the table, it is not displayed and it decreases every time a payment is made.

Is this doable in MS Access Query?

Thank you sparks for thinking about my case. I have already tried that one; and it indeed updated all paydates into the latest paydate. However, the one i am trying to solve is updating all Null paydates below every payments made by the client. As you can see in the image or link i've pasted...

@ adam and smig Thank you guys. Found a Bug!

I am not sure if this is something new, but I am just concern about the danger of it. If you have got a vba code inside events of a control before putting it inside a "TAB control", please be very sure to re-check it again as it has a very good chance of losing all of the hard coded events you...

Question How safe it is to develop an existing MS Access 2007 Database to MS Access 2010?

Kind sirs and ma'ams just a quicky. I am trying to continue developing a fully working MS Access 2007 Database to MS Access 2010. So far so good. But a lingering question remains at the back on my mind: Would it be completely safe to further develop my fully working database which was...

How to optimize this Query to be faster and more efficient?

it appears nothing is faster than this method already when using microsoft access. when i try to use function it actually just slowed some more. in sql server 2008 when i try converting this statement through ssma. it suggested using select case statement and the query will then be converted...

How to optimize this Query to be faster and more efficient?

@spikepl .Active is a boolean with only true or false as the choices no nulls is allowed. It may appear to have nulls because of the way the SQL statement has been constructed but it doesn't, its only purpose is to just show all records on the other three tables left joined on a single table...

How to optimize this Query to be faster and more efficient?

Thanks for your suggestion sir. you're right sir it seemed to evaluate itself redundantly and so i'm here because I am not convince myself if what i did is the best form of coding to implement nor the most efficient but as of the moment it works but its really slow.. I am in the process of...
