Am I dealing with a cartesian product? Help?!!!

Oh right, thanks Rabbie! This is actually a simplified version of the report I want to make. Is it possible to put a report inside a report? So I could make a report for the contact (this will include emails and websites etc too) and then put this as a sub-report into the "Enquiry" report and...

Am I dealing with a cartesian product? Help?!!!

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been on here, but I'm having an issue with what I think is a cartesian product problem, as I'm dealing with a "many" relationship Basically, for a report, I'm trying to have a single page for each contact with ALL of their phone numbers on this single page...

SQL to VBA (with a concatenated alias)

As an update, I've done it! I continued searching the net for a solution, and only non-other but Allen Browne gave a solution on the Eggheadcafe forum. I had to use double quotes for each field and thus the select section looked like: BeginningSQL = "SELECT tblSite.idsSiteID...

SQL to VBA (with a concatenated alias)

Hi all, I'm using VBA for a search query to search for a site address. The way I'm doing it means that the form which is opened as a result of the search that shows the found entries includes a field which has multiple table fields under a single aliased heading. My SQL "Select" section of...

Question database has encountered a problem and needs to close

Update: yep I copied everything over to a brand new blank db and now it's fine. It's such a random odd thing to happen and makes no sense at all. Oh well. Much obliged!

Question database has encountered a problem and needs to close

Thanks Rabbie, I might just have to do that because compact and repair didn't work. I've split it to see if that works also.

Question database has encountered a problem and needs to close

I've suddenly (today) started getting a message in access saying that the database has encountered a problem and needs to close and it gives me the option of sending M$ an error report or not. It also has the checkbox to repair, backup and restart it. Yesterday it was working fine, today when...

Querying a many to many relationship table not working

Had a brain wave after struggling over this all morning and the posting it. I changed some references in my query so that it includes a couple of different tables. It now references the date from the parent subform and the equipment ID from the sub subform and it works. My new code was this...

Querying a many to many relationship table not working

Hi there, In my db which is almost complete now, thanks to some brilliant people in here, I have a function which I'd like to add. I've got a many to many relationship between equipment and visit. We're an acoustics consultancy which make visits to site with equipment. this is a whole load of...

2 form controls accessing the same data but independently

Sorted it, all I did was to create a query, copy it and call them qryClient and qryAgent. Then I included 2 lookup fields in the tblEnquiry which looked up to the results of the respective queries. Sorted!

2 form controls accessing the same data but independently

I've tried it with inner joins too, (as opposed to the left joins shown) but to no avail.

2 form controls accessing the same data but independently

Yeah Allen's proved very useful to me too. Ok so I'm still struggling through this one... My enquiry form is now based on a query that I've made rather than directly to a table like it was previously. The query design is like this: But the results come up with nothing at all: the form...

2 form controls accessing the same data but independently

Oh that makes sense! So there is a way to do it! Seems so easy - I love Allen Browne! (in a non-gay sort of way) Thanks Rabbie! Shall read it and then database life will get a lot nicer I think. :)

2 form controls accessing the same data but independently

Hi there, Here's an interesting one. Which I can't understand how to get to work with form controls. I have an enquiry form and on it is a contact details page where we put the client details. However, sometimes the person or company who contacts us is not our direct client and is only acting...

combo box column to become control source of unbound textbox

Hi there, I have an unbound textbox which I want to use to show a value from a combo box, just for reference like. I have the following expression in this textbox but in form view, it's showing #Name? rather than being blank... =nz([lngzAddress].[column(1)],0) I've tried it without the...

Subform / mainform but adding new entry

I guess I was just wondering how I'd reference things and make it requery, but I think I know how to do it. I need to make sure that when i open a new form to enter the telephone number, it opens with reference to the correct contactID so that it'll then appear after a requery. I've heard that...

Subform / mainform but adding new entry

Updatable queries, I'll have to research them... Which tables seem 1:1 to you? I was looking at the "not in list" event earlier on today - I can only find data on adding a new record to a single field. Hmmm more digging I think. I might play with this. Thanks for the replies George, as always :)

Subform / mainform but adding new entry

yes, I did wonder about that. So I'd need to separate a new table called tblAddress. Yeah, that figures. Argh, stupid normalisation. That aside, with regard to adding / editing a phone number, I would make a form: frmTelNo and in it, have a subform: fsubContact and I would enter a phone number...

Subform / mainform but adding new entry

I've been looking at Pat Hartman's sample db and am slowly understanding the many-many referencing with subforms on main forms being only do-able via queries. Please can I ask a question that might appear slightly dumb, but please can I ask a question regarding my db? I've been doing a lot of...
