    DSum on report

Thanks, I will try this But also, sorry if I appear stupid, I have seen the Nz function before and always wondered what it does - it does not give alot away in the help files. Is there anywhere I can get a brief overview of its uses? Richio

    DSum on report

Good Afternoon all I have a report with a formula as below =(DSum("[PriceGiven]","Results 1","[Sales Finance] = 'FI'"))+(DSum("[PriceGiven]","Results 1","[Sales Finance] = 'FD'")) This is basically picking the data from the query Results 1 and adding the price given up where the result of FI...

Should I be using Access? - Debate

Thank you for the advice It is very nice to get feedback of this nature as sometimes I feel that I could be going down the wrong road. It gives me confidence that what I am doing in terms of back ups / file storage etc is the right thing and that with a little patience I can push my knowledge...

Should I be using Access? - Debate

What started out 18 months ago as a small project to get my head around Access has now turned into the "lifeblood" of the business. The systems in place all revolve around a central Access database (which I continually add to) without which the Company would obviously struggle. The system is...

    Spilt form window

just had a look in "help" - I must revert to looking there first - apparently it can be done with forms in datasheet view only. I must say I prefer continous forms as these can be made "to look better" - I suppose a subform in datasheet view can be put in a main form to keep it looking half OK

    Spilt form window

Mad or what I just logged on to ask the very same question - the form I have has the column headers in place.....great...but Can the rows be frozen also - I have a PO number column and want to be able to scroll left and right and always display this column on the left - just like Excel. Any...

    Close form without saving

I have a form which I have tried to make pretty much foolproof in terms of data entry. On closing the form it checks for fields with null values and does not allow it to close unless an entry is made. This is great.....but.......people want to be able to quit the form without saving any of the...

Loop through all Open forms and requery

I had a similar problem which was fixed by checking all open forms and refreshing / requery. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly what was done. Try doing a search of the forums under my richio name. Hope you find it and it solves the problem

    filter date on form

Sussed It. I have removed the input mask on the date format - this is great on read only fields, but would still like an input mask on the fields requiring input. I assume this is some sort of bug.

    Conditional formatting

In Access 2000 this can be done without VB - there is a conditional formatting option in the menus the same as Excel

    filter date on form

Strange.... I have a continuous form set up - basically one long list of records. The form has a custom toolbar with the A-Z, Z-A, Filter by selection (the funnel) and remove filter buttons. It all seems to work fine. Ie sorting records into date order. Click on "a supplier" and it selects...

    Split database, SLOW performance

Well........all this has made my decision so much easier to make. Its Friday....it's still working fine at the moment (unsplit).....the weekend is nearly upon us and the sun is out (somewhere) seriously.....I have decided to stay unsplit for the time being, but will report back on any...

    Split database, SLOW performance

I have read with great interest the above. I am currently running a database which is not split on a server - twelve users at any point in time. Each machine has shortcut to the whole database. Access 2K file size about 5.0MB. I have been considering splitting for a while now, but........it...

    field must have an entry

Ok now worked it out, one last question though I have at present If IsNull(Me.Employee) Then MsgBox "Enter employee name" DoCmd.GoToControl "Employee" Else If I also want to include other fields not to be Null I am entering all the same code again but with "Reason Code" for example...

    field must have an entry

Definitely helping - but after the message box it still takes me to the report preview. Can the report preview be cancelled somehow? Sorry to be a pain Richio

    field must have an entry

Colin thanks for the reply...your last option is the one I have had in mind (and would be the most professional). I have had a go with the On no data on opening the report, but if you could point me in the right direction of the code for OnClick of the print preview it would be greatly...

    field must have an entry

I have a "purchase order" form which is based on related tables and including a subform for products. A purchase order report is based on the form with a preview button on the from. It all works fine if all the fields on the form are completed. However if fields on the form are left blank...
