Thank you for the advice, I had already done as you have suggested in your last post... I did go into the sub form, highlight all the textboxes, checkboxes ... etc (i.e. excluding Labels) and change the Locked property to Yes and the Enabled property to No. Then I went back to the sub form...

Also didnt mention, the subform is on a tabbed control... could this be affected it?

Unfortunately, I am still confused... I have now changed the subform properties as suggested. When I open the subform itself, the scroll bars work; in design view, the scroll bar works... in form view it does not?? Could it have something to do with other properties on the main form??
