    If Then Else struggle

The task: If there's nothing in textbox 2 (SecondDate) then Calculate the days since the date (FirstDate) in textbox1. But if there is a date in textbox 2 (SecondDate), then calculate the days since that date. My code is not right, I can see that (and so can Access!). Be grateful for...

A safe way of deleting records needed

That's a thought, Ken. Yes, thanks, I'll look at that. Not that many records are deleted each month so another table would be easily managed. Cheers

A safe way of deleting records needed

Yes, that's what I was thinking of, Maxmangion. It must be a difficulty that many developers face. I'm hoping someone might reveal how they manage it. Many thanks.

A safe way of deleting records needed

The User wants to delete files from a table - a job I had been doing. Does anyone please have a supersafe way of letting this happen - say one record at a time, with some sort of safety valve?

    The reverse of ApplyFilter

Sorry, craftsmen, either being lazy or in need of great company. It came back ... DoCmd.ShowAllRecords

    The reverse of ApplyFilter

I call up a query to filter the form - DoCmd.ApplyFilter "qryMyQuery", "" Is there a simple command to clear the query, to go back to the original Record Source please? (Sorry, but it must be Friday.)

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

I see what you mean. It works fine like this, but there won't be other demands for the sub in this particular db so I might as well. Cheers and thanks for the considerable help.

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

Brilliant, Shay. My mistake. (Somehow, I was thinking that all 'Public' subs had to be modules.) Works very nicely now. I had it going from both Next and Back, but this is much neater. And the Public Sub makes it much simpler to add to, or reduce. Many many thanks.

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

FormatCombo sits in a module. Straight after "Else", Access says "Object required". Does that ring any bells with you, Shay?

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

Yes, it works on the Next. It would be better, though, if it could be independent of that. (Next is a command button, and sometimes the User might well prefer the nav buttons. I could turn them off, of course, but there are times when they are more useful - like going directly to the end of the...

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

Shay and Rich Sorry for delay in returning. Yes, the If Then Else has to work (doesn't it?). Now I have had the chance to apply it and it does - but only while the combo has the focus. I used "On change". Could it be attached to the Next function, do you think? It is vital that whenever the...

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

Hi Rich Yes, I suppose that's the case. I should be able to do it with straight- forward coding then, do you think please?

    Conditional format - unconditional surrender

A combo is entered with Yes or No. If Yes, I want it to have a red background and white font - or some other very significant change. The more significant the better. (If No, no change.) For some reason, Format/Conditional Formatting doesn't want to oblige. Help, please, Gurus.

    Immediate Iifs and buts

I was far out. Thanks very much for the rescue, Miles. All the best.

    Immediate Iifs and buts

I thought I could use an Immediate If in a query to trim "/" off a long list of strings, some ending in "/", and some not. I thought IIf(Right([FieldA],1)="/",Mid([FieldA],1),[FieldA]) would do it, but I was wrong. Variations don't seem to work either. May I be guided by you experts, please?

Adding a field to a table

Thanks, Pat. I wanted one table to have the field plus the contents of that field. I was doing it with an append query, but - not thinking clearly - I was trying to do it to a table that had an autonumber. (Then realising the problem, I deleted the autonumber. To my shame, I deleted it from...

Adding a field to a table

Sorry, Master. It was me blighted by Monday-problems. I removed the autonumber - but in the wrong table. I can hardly believe it, but the evidence stares at me. Sorry, MoP. The disgrace is keenly felt - particularly when I gaze upon your new icon. Thanks for the guidance.

Adding a field to a table

Yep. Sorry. (Are my eyes deceiving me, or have you changed gender? Perhaps the local Tourist Board is employing you to tempt visitors over the border. Divine is not an adjective I thought to use of your physique. Until now!) The append query has one field which I want to put into the other...

Adding a field to a table

Good to hear from you, Mile-O-Phile. Each time I try with Append(I had thought the obvious choice), it begins to append from the last record in tblB!

Adding a field to a table

I want to add the records from one field in tblA to tblB. Is there a simple way please? (I know it should be straight forward and simple. It must be me that's making it difficult, or perhaps because it's Monday morning. )
