Found a code that worked and returned what I was looking for. Never in a million years would I have thought to use code. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

    This is all in a query. Years is: IIf(IsNull([TIR]),0,DateDiff("yyyy",[TIR],Date())) Sample results: 7/1/2011 Returns 3 Year(s), 1 Month(s), 5 Day(s) 9/1/2010 Returns 4 Year(s), -1 Month(s), 5 Day(s)

    Calculating years, months, and days

I'm trying to breakdown a date into years, months, and days. Simple right? The code I've been using for months returns a negative month if it happens to be the next month. Instead of returning 1 Year, 1 Month, 23 Days, it will instead return 1 Year, -1 Month, 23 Days. Code is: Months...

User logs in at 9:01 am. Database is locked between 9 am and 12 pm. User receives a message stating that the database is currently locked and then the database closes.

Disable forms from being accessed for a period of time

I'm in the process of creating a database in Access 2010 that has two front ends, basically. What I want to be able to do is lock out one of those front ends for a specific period of time every day. Does anyone have an example they can share?

Result of drop-down from Query puts X in 1 of 19 boxes

Same row. I've put more time into it than I would have liked, so for the time being I've gone back to the original plan that works (it's just a huge query). In the meantime, I'll continue to mess around with it and see what happens. vbaInet, were you suggesting that I put my table that...

Result of drop-down from Query puts X in 1 of 19 boxes

I have the combo box as a field in the detail section of the report, yes. I don't know what it is, but the first two rows work just fine, it's the third row that puts an X in the first two columns.

Result of drop-down from Query puts X in 1 of 19 boxes

Ok, now that I've wasted an entire day trying to figure this out, I still don't have anything. I have a drop-down with three options: 1) Days 2) Afternoons 3) Nights This data is only displayed in drop-down format on the Form. On the report, I have the three columns next to each other (I...

Result of drop-down from Query puts X in 1 of 19 boxes

Each row lists the person, followed by an X in the column annotating where they are at. I explained it pretty well the first time. Basically, how do I take the result of a drop-down, and using VBA, take that numeric result that has a value anywhere from 1-19 and put an "x" in the...

Result of drop-down from Query puts X in 1 of 19 boxes

I have a query which works perfectly fine, it's the report that I'm having issues with displaying correctly. My report is a daily personnel accountability report that shows where everyone is for the day. Instead of having a cumbersome query like I did before, I have opted to just use the...

Referencing text from drop-down vice ID number

I figured it out, but it wasn't either of those options. I chose to add in the field from the table that data is stored in. It works, but I never even thought about referencing a column within a drop-down. Thanks for the assist!

Referencing text from drop-down vice ID number

[SOLVED] Referencing text from drop-down vice ID number I know this is simple, but I feel like Simple Jack this morning. I'm trying to take the text from a drop-down menu and use that as part of the form caption. However, the text is not what is bound, the ID number is. I know I'm going to...

Authenticating user using their ID card

I'm not at work now, but every person has an identifying number tied to their ID card. They use this to login vice a username/password. I'm not looking to complicate it by making them register a username and password, but simply have any and all changes made (tracking/updating personnel)...

Authenticating user using their ID card

I know it's possible, and I don't even have this thing built yet, but I want to create a database that utilizes the user's ID card to authenticate them and tie any changes to their name. If not that way, using their stored information (SSN, or other ID) as a means of creating a...
