    Generate Report from Form?

I agree. It was just intended as a hypothetical name.

    Generate Report from Form?

I usually have a query that refers to the open form for criteria underlying the report. For example, if you have a field in the form call [txtStartDate] and a field in the query called [Date] and you want to return all records in the report that are after the selected date, you'd enter...

    Setting locked property

It's probably because the "Type" field is dirty, meaning that the information in it has changed. You probably need to save the changes to the record before you lock the field. Not sure if you necessarily want to do that, but it should work.

Multiple record lookup in a query

Thanks for the reply. I've never heard of or used a nested query. Sounds like it's time I did. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. :D

    Controlling Word from Access VBA

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience coding VBA to control Word from Access. I have a report that my user wants automatically created in Word for emailing. There are too many lines and graphics for exporting, and the user requires it in Word, so the pdf / snapshot routes are no...

    Disappearing Records

This is a long shot, but users sometimes overwrite old records with new info instead of clicking the new record button. Sounds crazy, but they do it all the time. If you have an autonumber ID field for your records, you may want to track them to see if this is the case. Just a thought...

    update

I've never actually tried this, but if your tables are linked in a relationship, you should be able to simply put both tables in your query simultaneously and set the update expressions as you would with a single table. I wouldn't try it with 2 tables that aren't linked though...not sure what...

    GoToControl question

You may also want to make sure the code is attached to the AfterUpdate event of the control and not the BeforeUpdate event. Access doesn't seem to like the latter.

Multiple record lookup in a query

I have a two tables, one that stores basic customer information and one that stores orders which are linked to customers in the main table in a one-to-many relationship. Pretty standard. What I need to be able to is have a query look at all the orders for each customer and find out if an order...

    Snapshot Problem

I'm having a problem creating a report snapshot. My report contains a sub-report. It also is made to look like a table, the vertical lines of which are drawn through code attached to the OnPrint event. The report looks fine, but when I create a snapshot, all I get is the table grid with no...

    Docmd.RunCommand acCmdFind

I want to call the default Find menu item (just as if the user had clicked the binoculars). That's as simple as pie. What I'd now like to do is change the default options for the user. (The 'Whole Field' default trips up users a lot). Anyone know how to do this?

    Blank chart in design view

Anyone know why my chart is coming up blank in design view, but works fine in preview? I wouldn't care except I need to edit it.

    report data field

Just looked at Rich's last post. Maybe it's my imagination, but my reports seem to perform better (i.e. faster) if I keep as many calculations as possible in the underlying query.

    report data field

I'm not sure, as I don't put spaces in my field names, but I think you have to enclose your field names in quotes if you do use spaces. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly where the quotes go, but it shouldn't take long to find the right spot by trial and error. At the risk of sounding...

    report data field

Maybe it was just a typo in your posting, but you need to use "iif" not "if". I think it means "immediate if". At least that's how I remember it. Mike

    Chart probs in design view

That will fix the clipped axis, but doesn't solve the problem with the blank chart in design view. Anyone know how to fix this? By the way, just to offer a different opinion, I prefer to use clip and just make sure that the chart is sized to fit within the object box. Prevents distortions...
