It's probably because the "Type" field is dirty, meaning that the information in it has changed. You probably need to save the changes to the record before you lock the field. Not sure if you necessarily want to do that, but it should work.

This is a long shot, but users sometimes overwrite old records with new info instead of clicking the new record button. Sounds crazy, but they do it all the time. If you have an autonumber ID field for your records, you may want to track them to see if this is the case. Just a thought...

I've never actually tried this, but if your tables are linked in a relationship, you should be able to simply put both tables in your query simultaneously and set the update expressions as you would with a single table. I wouldn't try it with 2 tables that aren't linked though...not sure what...

You may also want to make sure the code is attached to the AfterUpdate event of the control and not the BeforeUpdate event. Access doesn't seem to like the latter.

Just looked at Rich's last post. Maybe it's my imagination, but my reports seem to perform better (i.e. faster) if I keep as many calculations as possible in the underlying query.

I'm not sure, as I don't put spaces in my field names, but I think you have to enclose your field names in quotes if you do use spaces. Unfortunately I can't remember exactly where the quotes go, but it shouldn't take long to find the right spot by trial and error. At the risk of sounding...

Maybe it was just a typo in your posting, but you need to use "iif" not "if". I think it means "immediate if". At least that's how I remember it. Mike

That will fix the clipped axis, but doesn't solve the problem with the blank chart in design view. Anyone know how to fix this? By the way, just to offer a different opinion, I prefer to use clip and just make sure that the chart is sized to fit within the object box. Prevents distortions...
