Change Field Depending on Combo Box

Namliam is correct that this doesn't sound like it should be stored in a table. You could use an unbound text box and make it a calculated control. Or you could make it a calculated field in a query (which is probably preferable if you want to use this throughout) so Status...

Change Field Depending on Combo Box

Hi, yes you would use the AfterUpdate for the JobLive control. Make sure you are referring to the control name in your code. Select the control in design view and go to AfterUpdate in the Events tab. Put in this code: If Me.JobLiveControlName = "Yes" Then Me.JobStatus = "Live" End If This...

how to set value for textbox ?

You can set the default value of the text box to "Username". Just go into the form in design view and under Properties>Data>DefaultValue write "Username". I am not 100% sure I understand the latter half of your question but I think you want it to be emptied when entered. So in the On Enter...

Which column headings are you referring to? An image would be helpful.

Unlock Form based on Combo Box Selection

You should also add an else statement: If Me.StatusControlName = "Approved" Then Forms.frmHandledBy.HandledByControlName.Locked=False Else: Forms.frmHandledBy.HandledByControlName.Locked = True End If

Unlock Form based on Combo Box Selection

Are these forms always open at the same time? Do you always want frmHandledBy to be locked? If so, just set the locked property for all the controls except "MaterialRequest" to yes. For changing the locked property depending on the status of the control in frmMaterialRequest, you need some...

have a subform show all records from a query

Hi, I cannot open this from my work computer because I have 2007. You can import your relevant tables, queries and forms into a blank database and see if that works. Or if you tell me the record source of your form and subform and how they are related to each other I can try to help. it is...

    Help please

Plog is right. There are a lot of things I didn't notice about your table structure yesterday when you were posting in the forms section (I was worn out by the end of the day). Glad you took my advice and posted here. Here are a few things I am noticing now: 1. tblJobs has an AddressID...

Basic database and struggling from the beginning

Great! I was inspired to use a parameter query on one of my long, slow to load reports today. Very easy to implement.

    Error

All in all, your relationships seem good. You should follow Jdraw's suggestion and remove the table level lookups and set the data types for the FK fields to number. As I mentioned before, you might post in the table section for more responses. So on to the forms.... What is the record...

Can I use a main form as query criteria

Please don't be sorry for asking the question! I didn't mean for my message didn't come across like that. I apologize if it did :o I hope I set forth a basic guideline for you in my reply. If all of your tables are structured properly and your relationships are correct, you should have no...

    Error

Also better to change the structure now rather than further down the road when it becomes much harder. Will take a look when I can and let you know what I see. Have a meeting to get to now. Hang in there :)

It look pretty good though so don't get too down. To attach, click on the "Go Advanced" button and find the "manage attachments" button. Then just select your file(s). If you post in the table section and show your relationships, you will likely get tons of helpful advice.

Ha ha, I am feeling overwhelmed by all of this so I can only imagine how you are feeling. This is a big project and you are trying to accomplish a lot. It is not going to happen overnight. My best advice is to break it down into small pieces. You can achieve all of this but not all at once...

Basic database and struggling from the beginning

It sounds like you had a parameter query set up for the report. That is an option. I have not used those so I cannot help you but it should be fairly straightforward to set up. Another option would be to link to the report from the employee form (create a hyperlink control in your form on...

    Error

Got it. Well, if you show your table setup for the relevant tables and explain what you want your forms to do I will try to help. It takes a bit of work but it is possible to make them disappear. Many of my subforms don't even look like subforms at all. No one would know.

    Error

Your form since that is where data is being entered and the error is happening. Why don't you like subforms??
  20. EternalMyrtle

    Error

Well, I think the source of the error is pretty clear even without details: you likely need a subform... If you set up a main form/subform you shouldn't be getting this error.
