    updated record count

Thanks Pat. Sorry though, I am useless with code and need slightly more explanation please. I declared a public variable in the top of the form (below the Option Explicit - yes?) Public runsum as Integer then in the current event : rcount = runsum In the After Update event : runsum =...

How to disable form window while the second one is being opened?

You can also set the forms property to modal so that they keep the focus until closed. This will stop users from moving from the most recently opened form until they have finished what they were doing on that form (i.e and close and save etc)

    Next Record when at EOF

Thanks guys - very helpful. Its amazing how many new things I learn everyday from this site. The great thing is now I have a better way of testing for the last record and I also learnt how to trap errors. 2 for 1! thanks again.

    Next Record when at EOF

Thanks RG. I was actually looking to show the record count on the form somewhere so this will come in handy (Thanks to GHudson). However, thanks to the forum (as always!), I now know how to trap errors and so I have created a msgbox for the particular error I was getting while leaving the...

    Next Record when at EOF

Help please guys! I have searched the forum but can't find anything specific enough for me to work with. I have a form that displays the results of a query one at a time. The user then checks a few boxes/fills a few fields before clicking OK to move to the next record. When the user gets to the...

Changing the Title on error message box

Its OK - thanks to the ubiquitous GHudson (what a guy! ) I have found an answer to the problem - I was actually looking to disable my mouse scroller and I happened to come across the vbInformation code i was looking for! MsgBox "There were no modifications made to the current record"...

Making all numbers the same length, by adding zeros

This is probably a convoluted method but it should work but only to change 4 digit numbers to six digits (but you can do it again for different lengths) Create a select query that contains the field you want to change. Set the criteria in this field to Like "####" (i.e it will only select...

    SubForm Scroll Bar

Have you tried deleting the control from the form and then replacing it again? I sometimes have to do this with fields that I have changed within tables but do not update within forms. Only an idea...

    Problems accesing database

Do as selena suggests - copy the db onto a cd and then copy it back to another location on your hard drive to check it all works. It does sound like all these problems are occuring due to you running the db from the cd. The only other time I have got blank forms as you say (but can still see...

    Access Security and Protection

Im not sure about that. With my db I only had to start pressing the shift key once I had created an autoexec macro that opened my switchboard and maximised it. Have you got an autoexec macro? (or maybe check the startup option in the Tools menu)

    Problems accesing database

when you open the db from a cd it will always be read only. You need to copy the file onto a writeable disk first i.e a hard drive. HTH

    Access Security and Protection

make sure you hold down shift when you click on 'open' (at the security warning about macros AFTER double clicking the mdb file)

Ways to make an Access Db available to multiple remote users?

Having researched further I am now under the impression that I can actually make my db available THROUGH my website i.e through the users browser (does this eliminate the need for Access to be installed on the users machine?). From what I can gather (and I am not at all clear with these things)...

    Web hosting

I too have used redstation and have found them very good. The free hosting is good enough for home/small business sites (a very good 1Gb webspace), but beware it doesnt support MS Frontpage extensions (unless you upgrade to the business account - £99). The other consideration is bandwidth - I...
