Hi, I am trying to append names from one chart to another. However, the first chart, the name is stored in one field, and in the second chart, there is a first and a last name field. Is there anyway to split up the names so everything before the "space" goes in First and after goes in Last...

The file is a .mdb and I am running retail access 2000. The database does have a front end/back end I think. Is that what you mean if the database is secured? If so, shouldn't I be able to import/link tables anyway? Thanks!

The problem is that I can't even highlight the External Data option... its shaded out for protection I assume. I need to be able to import and link tables and I have very little experience with access. Is there anyway to remove the security on the database? Thanks!

I'm trying to import data through file-->get external data.. however, the database i'm trying to import to won't let me access file/get external data. I assume there's security to keep you from doing it.. does anyone know how to bypass this? Thanks!

I have an input mask on the date field in my old database. However in the new one, the date field is done with the calendar. Anyway to import the date from the old database over? Thanks!
