    Can't resize the Properties Window

Hi RG - it is a new computer, well mother board, processor, RAM! I'll wait for the marketing hype: "It'll all work perfectly in Vista". Thanks for the input. I was out of ideas from the start. Doc Man, I'm certainly getting no marks for English. "Describe in your own words..." :D OK, I have...

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Yup, and a full uninstall/reinstall but I understand that Microsoft leave a lot of settings data behind on an uninstall "just in case" you reinstall at some time.

    .mdb File size Growing

What is the file size if you create a new db and import definitions only (File/Get External Data/Import, then select the Import Tables/Definitions Only radio button)? If you can, re-enter the data manually, checking file size frequently. If there is too much to manually re-enter, then Export...

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Ni, it's all databases inc. new ones, and all versions of Access, so it's clearly an Access setting.

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Yes, it has scroll bars and I get the double-headed arrows. It's simply that click and drag doesn't work.

    .mdb File size Growing

At that rate of growth, it'll soon take over all the storage capacity in the world :D What happens if you open the file, do a compact and repair and then close it?

Possible to create an updatable query listing Description of tables and fields?

No, I can't see an alternative but if you produce something limited to documenting and with a good interface it could have market potential. I document as I go but it would be useful for inherited databases. I did do something similar back along but used Excel as the interface.

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Yes, if you set Allow Design Changes to Design View Only in the... Properties window! I'm still looking for the place where Access stores the information about the last size settings for these windows.

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Density is good ;) Same in 2000, 2002 and 2003 (don't have 2007) and in all databases including new, so it's not a corruption thing. I'm talking about the windows that relate to Access forms and reports (View, Properties / View, Field List).

Possible to create an updatable query listing Description of tables and fields?

Can't see how it can be done with a query but even if it could, why would it be quicker than opening and editing the table in design view?

How to create a MS Windows Setup package

DJkarl is right but at that price it's just silly money. How about a self-extracting ZIP file? Not as pretty but can be effective. Or, as has been suggested, use an installer prog - I have used Inno Setup from time to time and it's free but you can make a donation and it's worth it. It is a very...

    Building application for Shop

Templates are good starting points if you know what you want/need to do and can modify them to fit your requirements. If you don't, you end up with something that doesn't quite fit. If you don't know how to design a relational database from scratch, a highly praised book is Database Design for...

Collate single record report and existing pdf

Do you mean, print a page of the report and then a PDF, then the next report page, and so on?

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Sorry for not making it clear. I'm talking about the Properties window in Access, not the VBA IDE. I've just found that I've got the same problem with the Field Chooser but not with the database container. Where do the settings get stored? I've not been able to find anything in the registry.

Stop access deleteing 00 from front of number ?

Is it really a number (i.e. do you need to do some maths with it) or is it text? If the former, it can't be stored as a number with leading zeros AFAIK, but it could be displayed as text with the zeros added.

Not able to enter or change data in a forum

Sticking with the Form/Subform approach, perhaps you should think of these as two distinct requirements. Construct a query to show the required form data and construct another query that will return just the current rating. The former needs to be updateable, the latter is for display only. Check...

How to create a MS Windows Setup package

Microsoft included a Package and Deployment Wizard with Microsoft Office Developer 2000 and 2002 which will do what you want.

Not able to enter or change data in a forum

Without knowing all the details, it's difficult to second guess, but I assume that the calculation query is a stand-alone, i.e. you can run it and the other query (original version) separately. It is putting them together as a record source that's causing the problem. A possible brute force...

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Hi Rural Guy That will teach me to be flippent :) It's not really postage stamp size - it's the standard size you get on first installing which on my monitor is about 300px square and showing 11 rows. It just feels like a postage stamp and is driving me maaaaaad. Surely, I'm not the only...

    Can't resize the Properties Window

Hi Guus Oh how I wish it had worked, but I'm still working in a postage stamp... Any other ideas gratefully received. Philip
