Stop access deleteing 00 from front of number ?

HI All,

Can anyone tell me is there a way to stop access automatically deleting 00's from the front of numebrs after they've been entered into a form.

I need to keep the 00's to ensure to different DB's match.

You could format the control to show numbers with leading zeros, but that's just a cosmetic effect. If the data you want to store is actually '007', then that's not a number, it's a text string and you should store it in a text field.

Is it really a number (i.e. do you need to do some maths with it) or is it text? If the former, it can't be stored as a number with leading zeros AFAIK, but it could be displayed as text with the zeros added.
