Hi, I have a report that derives it's data from a query, one particular field is giving strange results under certain conditions; 1. The field in the query contains this formula - Vol: IIf([grade]="P",DLookUp("volume","tblpoles","length =" & [length] & " And " & "cdub =" &...

    Relationship design

I am designing a db from an excel file that a volunteer org uses, i am the treasurer and I believe what they do in the spreadsheet would be easier in Access. I am familiar with tables, queries etc. Where I am getting stuck is the relationships and getting it to work properly. The database would...

Can I use Iif for this?

2 queries sounds easy but the problem is that the original query for "O" and "Z" grades allows the user to enter CDUB and Length in a subform, thus entering those values into the subforms' associated table, with another query for "P" I don't want the user to be able to enter into the tblPoles...

Can I use Iif for this?

I have attached a sample db with the query in question showing the formulas that I currently use. The data for the items with the 'O" and "Z" grade items is calculating correctly - the problem arises when the Grade is "P" then it must compare the Length and CDUB to the table tblPoles and...

Can I use Iif for this?

Now I want the...

Protecting the database - what kind of solution?

Thanks Shadow, I am assuming those options can be found in Tools-Startup. Being a newbie at Access I can't figure out how to get the demo thing working, i.e. the syntax of the iif statement and where it goes. sorry to be a pain cheers optidisk

Protecting the database - what kind of solution?

Thanks very much shadow, I can understand it now that I have seen the code and how it is attached. BTW typing in the word DEMO didn't work, did you not include that feature - I couldn't find a reference to it in the procedures. What, and where, would I have to write into the procedure to have...

To mde or not to mde

i have been reading different threads on this forum re this subject and i have seen as posted by some members that password/users isn't so secure.
