hello

i am having trouble creating a report for "Student Contact Details".
i made a query but the query gets incorrect data.

in the school there are 12 houses
each house has 4 PC groups
each PC group has a teacher
each student is in one PC group

however when i do the query it says that a student is in each of the 4 PC groups for there house. so what i am asking is what have i done wrong and why is it showing each student in 4 PC groups instead of 1.

the report is meant to look like

my 2nd question is when i do a "Class List Report" i want to have a counter on the bottom saying how many students there are in the class. i have attached the file as i think seeing it will be much easier to understand then me :o .

In answer to your first question add a join on PC Group between Student and PCT Table

Secondly set control source of Text 20 to =Count([surname]), that will count the number of students
 
or 2nd question answer.

The report wizard will do this for you.

ok i got the count to work thank you so much.
but the PC grouping is still not working. there is already a relationship between PC_group from PCT Table and Student Table. but i had to group it with house and i think that is the problem. but it wont let me just connect PC_Group by itself, says no unique index can be found.
 
Create the join in the query, it worked fine for me and returned 1 record. At the moment its returning all possible teachers for each house because the link between the student and pc group in ther query isn't there.
