Hi,

I have two problems with my reports. The first one is pretty serious. For every page that prints out, another blank page prints out also, I cannot seem to fix this. What am I doing wrong? This happens pretty much all the time.

Secondly, is there a way that I can print a report "backwards" starting with the last page. This is so that with a long report which contains page nos, when it's finished printing all the pages are in the right order.

Thanks,

Liam

Problem 1

You probably have made the report wider than the paper. Make sure for 81/2 by 11 you only use a 6 1/2 inch wide area on the report design or readjust your margins to acomidate your sizing.

Problem 2

Never thought of it never tried to do it. But I'll be watching to see if someone else has.

Good Luck

re:

Hi Liam,

The reason why you are getting a blank piece of paper after every print is that you have set your report area larger than your paper size.
I am guessing here but lets say that you are using A4 paper size the area of your report is larger than A4 hence the extra piece of paper.
Access can be very picky about this, even if your report is a couple of mm larger than your actual paper size it will produce an extra piece of blank paper.
Go into design mode on the report and see if you can reduce the report size down, keep trying until the second piece of paper doesnt print out.

Hope this helps you

Matt

oops didnt see the above reply

As to problem #2. Once we moved into the object oriented world of windows, this problem was removed from the application and relegated to the printer driver so if your printer supports reverse sequence printing, choose the setting that will make it happen. I use an hp deskjet 990c and when I open the print dialog and press the properties button next to the printer name, I get lots of interesting options such as mirror image, reverse printing, two-sided printing, multiple pages per sheet, etc.

Re #2:

Methinks this has got to be a printer problem. Have never encountered a situation where a report, pages 1-10, doesn't print in the correct sequence, i.e., requiring the user to reshuffle all of the pages.

Hmm, strange problem. It would be interesting to hear if other users have encountered this scenario.

My printer prints them backwards also and so did my previous printer. It really depends on the paper path of the printer. Maybe it's an HP deskjet thing :) The question prompted me to look at ALL the settings I can make for my print driver and so I will no longer be annoyed by having to shuffle pages because now I know how to fix the problem. See, answering other peoples questions can pay for itself.
