There are supposedly 3 checks to verify correct operation of form and subform?

What are they?

Check if to certain fields are locked to stop others changing data on purpose or accidently?

Check to see that data changes with the rest of the data (linked) in both?

Am I on the right lines? Probably not! lol. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like a subjective (i.e. invented by a college professor) question.

?

Absolutely. I have my database module exam tomorrow. I've learnt more in the last week from helpful people like yourselves than I have from him. Never mind! I know plenty to pass the exam now I hope.

It does seem like a bit of a weak question to be honest . .

In James' (is that right?) defense, he has been working very hard at doing his own work.

I was impressed with the way he took direction on his first post, just getting an idea of how to come up with the answer by himself.

I hope you do well on your exam! But when you get it down, you need to come back and contribute.

ok moving slightly away from this question I have another . .

What two reasons can be given if the records that are shown in the subform are the same irrespective of the record on the main form.

I would firstly say that they are not correctly linked (i.e. VB coding), buy not sure why else?

That is a very open question. There is no "correct" answer.

It all depends on what your form does and what data it handles.

There is no set 3 things that will determine if the form is operating correctly.

In one case you may want the form to be data entry only and others it may be for viewing only. You may have it performing calculations on different controls or showing only certain records based on a part number selected in a drop down box or hundreds of other things. The only way to determine if it is working correctly would be to know what the design of the form is supposed to do, and see whether it is or not.

As to your second question, yes one possible issue could be that the subform and main form do not have the master/child fields linked, though that has nothing to do with VB code.

I was thinking about this issue on these forums last night. I really want to help and encourage students but I don't want them wasting my time with BS questions without at least trying.

I was wondering if we could create a forum for common student help with sticky posts for the most common faqs. The faqs could include rules or hints about asking questions that are subjective, how to look up what you need, etc.

This would make it easier for those of us who are really, really, really old to help but still have time left over to help each other/professionals.

Waddya think?
