Hi,

I've got a Access 97 database, that when I enter information, it does seem to enter it in the table, but when I try to find it via the user interface it can't find the data.

Its got about 20k entries in it. It can find all the other entries but the last ones from teh past day or two.

What would cause this and how can I fix it.

Is it possible to empty a database and start over? If so, how?

THanks

Jeff

Are you sure the user interface (form) is bound to an underlying recordsource?

In what way is it not there?

What methods are you using to search for data?

Unfourtunatly I know so little about access that I can't really answer yoru question. (I'm the techniction a small company hired to fix some viruses, this isn't my regular thing) But it can find previous records, just not the new ones.

I have fixed it, at least temporarly. What I did was go back to a backup they had that was a few months old, I then imported the table that we couldn't search the new information from, I copyied that and then pasted it into the new one, it replaced a bunch of stuff, and moved the numbers up about 20k but it seems to work.

I'm not confident that it will last though. This database has lots of tables, all of them with thousands of entries dating back to about 1997ish, what can I do for these people to help make this database better. Should I be telling htem to convert to Access 2002? is there other databases we should look at.

As it is, I told them they need to hire a person experienced with databases, but I do'nt think they can afford to.

j,

I hoped that you backed up, before you fixed it from the months
old backup.

Before changing anything in an "alien" db, back up first.

Yes I backed up what I had done, but that was there only copy that was still working properly.

As a rule of thumb, Access 97 is faster than the later versions.
