I was thinking to construct a database based on channel 4 "countdown" game show in the UK. click here for more information .

by contructing a dictionary database and having a query that can search a word when random letters are given to it. and this could be expanded later on to have 2 or more words solved.

i found a program based on this game called Numbers and letters . but it is in DOS.

can this be done with access? if so please keep your ideas coming. thank you :)

Hi

I haven't seen any for the words, but this word document is good for the numbers! I keep saying I will look at the code and try it in an Access module but I've not got round to it. Has anyone else?

amanco,

I just hacked this out. I didn't care about performance when I wrote it.
It runs in just over a minute (sooner, if it finds a good combination).

Don't normally run into this type of requirement, but it was different.

We'll if someone takes the time to streamline it. For a thirty-second
run, it'd probably take a more sophisticated approach, or a different
language (C++).

See ya,

nice ones you have there :) ...it would be nicer if you could choose the numbers as well. anyone is going for the words part? i can supply the dictionary if you want. keep your ideas and projects coming please :)

amanco,

No thanks, I've had my fun already. How long do the people get on the
show to solve the math?

Where'd you get your dictionary?
