It's been a long while since the last time I have posted on here.

Last time I was posting, I was a pee-on at a materials testing laboratory tasked with updating the labs testing process records from an excel spread sheet to an access database.

This was quite the task, because I had no prior experience with access, vba, visual basic etc...

So I bought some books, took some visual basic classes and then began posting questions on here.

It took me over a year to build out the first (eventually there was a second for another lab) relational database (front and back end). It was actually really big and rather complex.

But with serious study and lots of help from this forum, it was a resounding success. They still use it today (5 years later).

However, based on that project and your help - I moved on to bigger and better things.

I have been a SQL Server DBA at a major firm now going on 3 years. I also spent 2 years as a Network engineer.

Obviously - my salary increase has been significant as a result of this.

I just wanted to stop by and say thanks to all the posters and the awesome moderators who helped out a guy who's only education was getting his GED, and taking a few classes, get on the path to a great IT career.

And for all you pee-ons who are building access databases, making 12$ an hour...you already have the tools to get in the door to a much bigger future.

Thanks guys.
