Accdr issue

I have an issue where a database has been packaged using the Access 2007 developer tools and has been installed giving the user a accdr file, the issue is that the original source file the accdb does not exist for some reason and I need to modify this file. The person who created this database is long gone and I have searched their files toughly and no accdb’s at all.

I tried renaming the accdr to a accdb but all I get is unrecognized database format.

Any ideas?

Did you look for mdb files. Maybe the original is an older version design

Runtime files in Access 2007 are popular because the 2007 runtime is completly free and distributable. With older versions the licence was not quite so open.

If you can't find the original this usually means reconstruction of the design.

You gave me an idea, I renamed it to adp (which the orginal 2000 file was) and hey presto it opened, so my predecessor had created the accdr from a adp file.
