I have a database that was originally made with access97 using workgroup permissions, I latter converted it to Access 2003 with no problem.

Now I upgraded to Access 2007 and I get the error:
"You do not have the necessary permissions to the (filename) object.
Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you"

I cannot find away to set workgroup permissions in access 2007!
What can I do?
Please help!! This is a very important database.

The new ACCDB file format does not have User Level Security (ULS) available. If you want ULS then you will have to keep it in the MDB format.

I don't want to convert it, I just want Access 2007 to open it.
When I click ok on the error box access just goes to a blank database.

thanks for reply

I would think you would need to open it using your Workgroup shortcut.

The workgroup admin program still says I am connected to the right workgroup.
It seems as though Access 2007 doesn't care but it still cannot open the database.

I can't believe Microsoft didn't think about this!

Thanks, but I tried that, Access will not open the database at all, it has to do with the workgroup secrity in Access 97, it was also support in Access 2003, but Access 2007 doesn't want anything to do with it!!!, well at least I can't find any setting to enable it so I can at least open and convert the database.

i have somewhat the same problem. i tried converting through importing method but got got following errors:r
"the object was saved in invalid format and can not be read"
then another error
"110 errors occured when you loaded the form or report"
then
"no current record"
then
"the search key wsa not found in any record"
rest happens smoothly and seems alright until i try to edit some form like adding a new button. the error pops up saying
"the data can not be readbecause the VBA project contained in itcan't be read. database can be read onlyif VBA project is first deleted....."
