Has anyone had any experience with the new Access 2013? The claim you can make Web apps with it.
What’s the deal?

I'm at a cross roads in my career. I know everything I need to, to create any business system in Access. And if I need a little help with syntax, or a procedure here and there, the folks here are incredible.

But the Web is the future, even if I have less of one than I had before. So at 53 what to do? What requires the least learning curve to developing apps for the web?

We did some extensive interfacing with SharePoint when I was at TSA; enough to know that I am not a real fan of it.

So where to go from here?

I'll let you folks decide. LOL

Try Terminal Services. To me whilst I develop in both html and ASP, a Terminal Server is still a very good solution. The Terminal Server sits locally and data calls are over the LAN whilst screen dumps are transmitted over the WAN.

You would need a separate Server with separate FE for each user.

I guess you might still want to work 10-15 or more years? A long time in technology these days. I would suggest that "least learning curve" isn't the right way to choose a career path. Look at where the demand is and what the future potential is, as well as what you think you'll be productive at and most enjoy.

If you want to be an application/web developer then Java, .NET or C++ have most of the market share and are the most valuable and durable skill sets to have. In the database sphere Oracle and SQL Server rule and are pretty much must-haves. MySQL and Postgres still have some mileage too but the momentum behind MySQL has waned since Oracle bought it.

Betting on any one technology for 5 to 10 years in the future though? Seriously, just don't. Keep your eyes on the marketplace and be prepared for change - it's the only constant.
