We recently upgraded our small network (25 users) from a stand alone W2K server to Active Directory. The Access 2000 database is split into front ends on the workstations and the back end, which resides on the server. Since we did this, there has been a security issue with the client workstations and Access. NO security settings have been configured in Access and we are using roaming user profiles. What's occuring is that the front end will not open. It displays a message like "the database could not find the file c:\documents and settings\application data\microsoft\access\system3.mdw". We discovered that the "workaround" for this is to either have the users log into their workstations locally (and use the workstation permissions) or allow them to log into the domain and grant them Domain Admin rights (not a good thing). The permissions look correct on the folders to allow them to log in as domain users but.......We tried moving the system.mdw file but it didn't solve the problem. Besides, the reason for the roaming profiles is to administer most functions from the server, not the workstation. Has anyone run into this issue? Thanks!
