The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 6August 2025 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM). For local times, please check World Time Buddy
I will be the presenter for this session and will be demonstrating several recently released new Access features including:
• VBA support for modern charts
• command line project signing and timestamping
• new Create SQL Query button
• significant improvements to the Monaco SQL editor.
I will also discuss the scope of two significant new Access features recently announced that will be rolling out to users later this year: Responsive Forms and Large Monitor Support
a) Add Zoom slider magnification to Microsoft Access
Access will add a magnification slider (10% to 500%) to the status bar at the lower right of the application, similar to the feature in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
It will also be keyboard accessible and available on the ribbon.
This responsive behaviour will be provided so that forms, reports and all controls can be adjusted for different screen resolutions and form factors.
In other words, Access will finally have a built-in feature similar to the functionality provided by my own Automatic Form Resizing code.
However, it is expected that this native functionality will have a broader scope.
It is likely that various parts of this feature will be released in 4 stages over a period of months starting with form view, then report view followed by datasheets and finally design view for both forms and reports.
b) Modernize Access Forms and Reports to work well on Large Format Monitors
As part of this, the current 22.75 inch limit on Access form and report widths will be removed so that both types of object can make effective use of the space available on large format monitors. The new functionality will significantly increase this limit, probably by far more than just doubling it.
Rollout of these new features are scheduled to start in September 2025.
I hope you will join us on Wed 6 Aug for this session.
For more details about the topic and speaker together with connection details for the meeting, please visit https://www.isladogs.co.uk/aeu-42/ or https://accessusergroups.org/europe/event/access-europe-2025-08-06/
Please also download and import this iCalendar (.ics) file to your calendar application e.g. Outlook.
Doing this will add a recurring event for the first Wed of each month at the correct time for your location/time zone.
The meeting will again be held on Zoom. When the time comes, you can connect using Join Zoom Meeting.
