The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 6August 2025 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM). For local times, please check World Time Buddy

I will be the presenter for this session and will be demonstrating several recently released new Access features including:
• VBA support for modern charts
• command line project signing and timestamping
• new Create SQL Query button
• significant improvements to the Monaco SQL editor.

I will also discuss the scope of two significant new Access features recently announced that will be rolling out to users later this year: Responsive Forms and Large Monitor Support

a) Add Zoom slider magnification to Microsoft Access
Access will add a magnification slider (10% to 500%) to the status bar at the lower right of the application, similar to the feature in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
It will also be keyboard accessible and available on the ribbon.
This responsive behaviour will be provided so that forms, reports and all controls can be adjusted for different screen resolutions and form factors.

In other words, Access will finally have a built-in feature similar to the functionality provided by my own Automatic Form Resizing code.
However, it is expected that this native functionality will have a broader scope.

It is likely that various parts of this feature will be released in 4 stages over a period of months starting with form view, then report view followed by datasheets and finally design view for both forms and reports.

b) Modernize Access Forms and Reports to work well on Large Format Monitors
As part of this, the current 22.75 inch limit on Access form and report widths will be removed so that both types of object can make effective use of the space available on large format monitors. The new functionality will significantly increase this limit, probably by far more than just doubling it.

Rollout of these new features are scheduled to start in September 2025.

REMINDER
Access Europe User Group meeting is tomorrow (WED 6 Aug) at 18:00 UK time

Hey @isladogs, are these events recorded and available after-the-fact? If so, can you point me to where they can be found?
Thanks,
Mark

PMFJI,
Anything that starts with AEU it appears?

However a post is always made when the latest appears on YouTube.

Hi Mark
Whilst I would love to see you at one of our live sessions, all Access User Group chapter meetings are recorded and uploaded to YouTube.
The link provided in post #4 shows all the videos for each chapter going back over several years.
There are several hundred videos available.

There are also playlists for each chapter. The playlist for Access Europe currently has 41 videos and can be found at:

I expect to have edited & uploaded the video of today's meeting to YouTube within the next week or so.
The related web page https://www.isladogs.co.uk/aeu-42/ already includes all the files and links from today's session.

In addition, I always post a link in the same thread to the meeting video when its available.
If you become a subscriber you will be notified about each meeting and also about each video after the event.

George Hepworth (@GPGeorge) leads the Access Pacific User Group and can hopefully provide the URL for that group's YouTube playlist.
The next meeting for the AP group is tomorrow

Colin, my intent is to get more involved, but I blew it this a.m. (I'm GMT -9 so it was 10am), but I grabbed your .ics link so I've got it now in Outlook as a recurring appointment.
Hey George, I just joined the Pacific Access User Group.

Hi Mark
Great. I'd love to see you at future meetings and indeed hopefully have you as a potential presenter for AEU

As you are GMT-9 it sounds like you are a similar time zone to George (or further west - Alaska / Hawaii?) so you should find his meeting times work well for you

The Access Lunchtime group is at an equivalent time to the AEU meetings. Those are led by Maria Barnes who is based in central USA.

The video of my presentation on New & Forthcoming Features in Access from Wed 6 Aug to the Access Europe User Group is now available on YouTube:

For more details on the topics covered, see post #1

Yay features! So glad you were able to give your input/feedback and hopefully they implement the bulk of it! Thank you for your service :giggle:
