I have a label on a form with text including the word "generated".
The funny thing is when I switch from Design View to Form View generated becomes genneerraat

It's easy enough to use a different word but there's obviously a problem somewhere and I'm worried that Access might make a mess of other words too.

Anyone have ideas what's going on here?

Addition: No matter what words I use, the last 10 or so characters of the text in the label is changed when switching views. I have been playing around with the text a bit more and it appears that the character & is the source of the problem. When I delete the &s everything looks fine again.

Anyone care to comment?

& does strange things in captions - eg it sets the short cut underline in menus so that &File enables ctrl-F (or is it alt-F) to start the file command. I'm not sure exactly what effect it has on the label display, but its clearly that causing it.

I've just tried putting Gener&ated on a lable and it just underlines the a, so i don't know exactly what you are doing to get the effect you mention.

In the example you give its duplicating a number of chars.

In my label I had the & somewhere in the middle of the line, not in the middle of a word. I can say in the label what I want to say with "normal" characters so it's not much of issue anymore. I was just unaware of the side effects of using &s in a label. Thanks for your input.

I am having the same problem and have come to the conclusion it is the && making the problem.

Here is what you see in the label when in design mode:

Three sets of plant operations and maintenance instruction (O&&M) manuals assembled by F&&C/Construction Manager and transmitted to Engineering. Include copies of all air and water balancing reports in 'O&&M' manuals.

Any direction on how tot get rid of this?????
