I have just acquired Access07.

As my first project, I have prepared an archive database of my dart league. I would like to post it online. Is it possible to do the following using the SharePoint function?

When requesting the past records of a specific team or player, I have a form come up where they can enter the player or team name. This variable is then used in the query to bring up the form with the data. Will this work in SharePoint or is there another method required?

After a brief reading on SharePoint, I am totally confused. I am thinking it might be easier to do this in an earlier version of Access using ASPs or to just use the database function on FrontPage.

Or, if you could point me to a SharePoint document on line (for dummies perhaps) that would be good too.

You can use Acess 2007 to create an mdb and use ASP to work with the file.

You can also use SharePoint Services (no need to use SharePoint Server) if you wish for this. If you have Windows Server 2003 or 2008 it includes SharePoint Services.

One thing to note is that you will have to use your User Interface to maintain referential integrity for your data as SharePoint does not currently do that for you. And, it does only work with small datasets - no large tables of data.

Thanks gents.

That kills the Share Point concept. I'm not spending thousands for what is essentially a public service for my fellow darters. There is also 25 years worth of data in the database so that's way too large for SharePoint Services.

Coach: I tried joining the other forum but they won't respond to me (it was the weekend, maybe they'll get back on Monday). The PowerPoint demo may be of use.

Thanks again.
