ActiveX controls documentation

Is it possible to find the documentation on ActiveX controls.
Some book which will list the controls, describe functionality and how to make them working ...

There are many different ActiveX controls available. Unfortunatly not all of them are well documented. When I need information on an ActiveX control (Microsoft specific ones any way) I first search the Knowledge Base to look for Articles. If I can't find what I'm looking for there, I then search the Intranet using the Display name and the File Name.
