Hi,
this is probably a question with an easy answer, but i don't know what to do.
I have 2 tables Heirarchy and cardholder.
heirarchy has 4 fields one of which is an autonumber primary key.
I need to move that autonumber key to the cardholder table as a foreign key. Cardholder table already has an autonumber primary key.
Is there an query I can run to do that?

Update queries do things like that. Check the help on that term.

To do this with an update query you need to be able to identify which Cardholder record to insert the Hierarchy ID into.

What is the relationship between Hierarchy and Cardholder? is it One to Many or what?

If there is a relationship already, then it means there will be redundant fields in Cardholder after the new key is added.

True. But then I don't see how you can build the link with an Update query.

Of course if you show the relationship on the schema you should be able to establish the link when you input the data using a form/subform and query
