Add new fields in existing forms

Could anyone please help!!!
I have created a form but in hindsight forgot to add a column to the table I
created the form from. I have created the new column in the table, but when I go back into the form the field list does not update with the new column heading. I have tried creating a new form with just the new field on it, then dragging and dropping the field from the new form to the original but this just causes an error.
Is there any known way of updating the field list or do I have to re-design th form from scratch.
Any advice would be gratefully received.

I suspect the form has an sql string as recordsource. Find the recordsource property of the form, use the button with three dots at right to enter the underlying query, then add the field to the query, save, and it should be available.
