Add numbers

I am pulling a comments field from a table into a continuous subform via a query, can I add an unbound text box to the continuous form that will place a number beside the record or is there something that can be done at the query level to do this? I dont want to use the records ID field as the numbers wont start at 1 and then go sequentially 2,3 etc

Unfortunately you can't assign more than one value to an unbound control in a continuous form. It will hold the same value in every record.
