Hello,

I have a table that I created have used to create a form. After getting the form all nicely laid out and looking good, I realized that I forgot to include a vital piece of information on my table. So I went back to my table and added it (a text box) then went to my form and added it as well as set the control source. I didn't realize that this might be the cause, but a little while later, while testing my form, I noticed that things weren't working the way they should. I was also receiving random error messages talking about connection to the OLE server and Active X controls. The two things that stopped working were:

1) Last Modified Macro (created as per Microsoft Office website: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/a...me-when-a-record-is-modified-HA010241284.aspx)

2) The one field that I had set to be a "required" field stopped showing an error message when it wasn't filled in. The error was obviously present, because it wouldn't let me leave the page, but it just didn't tell me why.

So after a lot of frustration I decided to see what would happen if I created a brand new form. I did that, then attached (or linked?) the Last Modified Macro and everything worked beautifully. The problem is I just can't figure out why those things stopped working! I should mention that I do not have any other expressions, macros or codes being used, only that one last modified one.

I'm hoping someone can help me crack the case, because I don't want to have to go back through and do all the layout over again.

Thank you for your help or suggestions!

I would like to see the Record Source both before and after adding the new Field.

I think you may have added the Field twice. (An educated guess)

Go to your Back ups and have a look.

Hope you do have a back up. Very important during developing. Every few minutes is good.

Thx Rainlover, but I'm embarrassed to say that I don't have a back up :(
Is there any way to compare one form to another to see if something is different? I'm thinking that way I could see what property settings are different and troubleshoot it that way.
Also, when doing back ups, do you just simply save a second copy? or is there a better way?

Thanks,
~FOX~

I just wanted to add that I found out the (very obvious) answer to my question about doing a back up.
You mentioned the Record Source, I think that's what I'm after as well, how do I get to that? I was just doing an internet search on how to compare property sheets from two forms, but I didn't find anything that made sense to me. There was one place where someone posted some VBA code, but it didn't work for me. I hate being so uneducated on this stuff, especially the expressions and VBA codes.

I knew the answer about Backups before I asked. Hope you don't forget next time.

Don't know how to get back to where you were as I don't know where that was. As I said this was an educated guess.

The Record Scource can be found in the Properties Box, but you nheed to be in design view to see that. The Record Source if for the Form and then there is a Control Source for each Control. A Text Box is a Control.

Does this help.

Hi Rain,

Thanks, I understand what you were talking about now. I've decided just to rebuild the form from scratch as I don't have a lot of time to try and solve the problem unfortunately. I will be doing regular back ups from now on!

Thanks,
~FOX~

If I am in time then send me a copy in 2003 and I will fix it for you to save you time.

I will be here for next 2 Hours maybe a little more.
