Adding shortcut key to custom menu

I'd like to have a shortcut key (Ctrl+O) for my custom menu. I can functionally achieve this by creating a macro "AutoKeys". What I can't do is have the caption of the menuitem have a right justified "Ctrl-O" appear.

The Access Help file says you cannot assign shortcut key text to a custom menu but I was wondering if anybody has stumbled upon a trick (perhaps an API) to do this.
