i have a combo box that i want to cause a "connected" subform to change data when the combo box changes data. i need to create and after update refresh subform, but i don't know exactly what i write.

go to the properties of the combo box

on the after_update event

me.subform.requery

or use

me.subform.refresh

i know i am not very brilliant on this matter, but when i am to put the me.subform.refresh in the after update event procedure do i type this after the bracketed words event procedure or what? i have tried several things and still can't get the procedure to work. help and duh!!

sorry i am a dummy

What you need to do is open the VB Window. Next to the Event Procedure (to the right) is a small button (....), click on it to open the window. Type in there what Mark sugested, ie
Code:
Private Sub YourCombo_AfterUpdate()

Me.NameOfYourSubForm.Requery

End Sub
Of course change "NameOfYourSubform" to the Subform Name

IMO

still getting the same message

i have been looking in to the child master field connection, is it necessary to have them? the combo box i have regarding this after update procedure is still giving the message Expected: text or binary. i still can't get the subform to change over info until i close out of the form and reopen it. am i doing something wrong?? i assumed when microsofte helped me set up the subform and combo box connection that this was what needed to be done, i have not changed anything regarding this link.

frustrated:confused:

Is the Combo unbound?

IMO

reply to combo

i think it is bound--it has a control source in its properties, but i am not sure how to determine this any other way.

If you post a stripped down version of the DB I'll take a look for you
