I'm creating a site for a guild I'm in for world of warcraft and I was wanting to put forums on my site. I really like these forums and i know exceltip.com uses them too. Anyone know if i can download a template or where i could get something similar.. I know about phpbb.. but thats about it.

The software for this forum is not free - it is commercial software created by a company called JelSoft. You can get more information (including a sandbox to test it out) at vBulletin. It costs $85 for an annual lease (with full support) or $160 for a paid license with an extra annual charge for support (if you feel you'll need it).

Don't let the price put you off (if it does) as it's the best forum software available. I use it for my own site and found it really easy to customise to look the way I wanted it to - an example of mild reworking here.

You can download templates for vBulletin from a number of sites but you still need to have the software. Other forum software include phpBB, Ikonboard, yaBB, and SMF.

It looks quite similar to phpbb.


If you know PHP, you can change how PHPBB works to do anything you want really.
