Hi-
I have a decent sized relational database in Access that I want to make a "fool proof" interface for. Ideally I woudl like it to look and feel like a webpage, but I want the database and interface to stay on a normal network drive - not a special web/database server (it will never go on teh internet, its just for my coworkers to view data). My thought is that I want people to be able to view and enter data in the Access database even if they dont have Access on the specific network computer they are using. Also, even though Access is very user friendly, it does require some amount of training and its easy for people to accidentally close a form and all of a sudden feel "lost". Thats why I thought a webpage that interacts with an Access database would be the best solution.

I am not a web programmer, so was thinking I'd researach data access pages and spend a bunch of time making the data access page look as nice as possible...from what i can tell a data access page is the only way to create a .html file that interacts with an access database. Is this true? HOwever, I've never heard anything positive about data access pages, and the fact that microsoft chose not to continue with them in access2007 makes me nervous. If I used Dreamweaver or something similar to create a .asp, .php or coldfusion file, I'd have to have a web and database server to support these files types in order to use them - is that correct?
I've heard creating a colldfusion site that interacts with Access is great....but I'm guessing I'd need to be able to run/store the file on a special server? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Many Many thanks.
