I am hoping someone here has encountered this same issue and has a solution.

I have Access M365 and a Client has Access 2021 LTSC. I sent him a blank (empty) Access Database that I created in M365. He received an "unrecognized database format" message. I then turned off all known new features since 2010 and receives the same message. I did open this up in M365 to do so.

I created blank database in Access 2010 and sent it to him as is. I have not heard back from him yet as he is in the ME.

While I wait for a response, has anyone here encountered this issue and what was your solution?

Thanks!

If you ever ticked the large integer or extended date time options in 365, these will change the database structure permanently even if you later disable them.

You're talking about an ACCDB, right?
That surprises me.
File > Options > Current Database: uncheck Support Large Number and Support Date Time Extended. I am not sure they made it into 2021.
And for sure uncheck "Enable Monaco SQL Editor". That one certainly is not in 2021.

Of course, the old rule still applies: always develop in the lowest version your clients may have.

Copilot says: Large Number was introduced with A2016, and Date/Time Extended with A2019, and both are in 2021 LTSC.

Hi Tom
Thanks for checking. I thought both came later.
Although Monaco wasn’t in 2021, I’m confident having that enabled won’t be the problem. Nor would using newer types of modern chart.

This was a case of serendipity. He was unsure whether or not he could download an application due to their security protocol. He is a new client and migrating all his efforts to Microsoft Access from Excel. Once we confirm that he was able to download, I've been confirmed his office version.

As I mentioned I created a blank application using the default 2007 through 2016 database. The only feature I had enabled was the Monaco SQL, which I disabled. The Big Int and Date options were never turned on.

I did read elsewhere that ACE could be a problem, therefore in the time that I created this post I sent him two databases. One that was created purely in version 2010 on my old box, and another that I created on my new machine, having saved it as an MDB, and then we saved it as an ACCDB, hoping that would remove any of the features that were not available then.

I will wait till tomorrow to hear back from him. I will let you know once I do.

Thanks!

Yes. I did just respond to @isladogs. I won't create a duplicate response. You can read there. Thanks for your input.
