Hi i am a doctor dabbling in ms access and trying to make myself a database of patients. I have 2 forms named new and followup where i would add the data accordingly. I have a primary key named TSCID that is autonumber in the new patient form. I wanted to know how can i program my followup form in such a way that if i put in the TSCID as the foreign key and add that data, some other data such as name, age, gender, address, etc can be auto entered and it can remain modifiable.
thanks
Vinay:)

You have two tables one with TSCID and patient info like name, addy and so on and another table with foreign key TSCID and follow up info for that patient?

You need to write a query to join these two tables based on the TSCID which the user inputs into the form. You can do this by opening design view for query, add the two tables too it and then drag and drop TSCID from the new patient to the other table. Test it and see if u get the desired results.

You could always add a combobox in the followup form which contains the TSCID, if you select the right TSCID you will see the info for that patient on the screen. Of course if you have lots of patients the combobox will be large, but I'm sure after a while u know a patients ID by heart and dont select it no more.
