Auto Calculate F9

A number of people in my office have had their Automatic calculation in Excel turn itself off. We are aware of how to fix the problem but I would be interested in knowing what causes it.

If anyone has insight I would appreciate being able to explain the phenomenon.

I have found that sometimes add-ins and some VBA code might trigger this. They might have a line in the code with Calculation set to Manual, then forget later int eh code to switch back to Automatic.

Thanks, that was the answer I thought I'd get. It would sure be nice to know more detail but I guess this is one that is what it is.
