Hi all i need a bit of help....

i have created a database with 2 queries 1 to open a new add split form
and 1 to update a curtain record...
Use!!
the 1 Query to open a new add split form is to display the history of that search term eg "surname"
what i need !!
when i query "surname" i want just the surname field to auto fill from the datasheet of the split form....
additional info!!
the database consists of 1 table, 2 forms, 2 Queries, and a switchboard.
at the moment the database works great, query 1 brings up the history for searched "surname" in the datasheet, the second will update a particular record
