I saw an add-in somewhere to auto fit forms to the screen to alleviate the problem of developing on a 17" screen and transporting to a 15" and having to resize everything.
CAN SOMEONE POINT ME TO WHERE THSI SITE IS, as I had to rebuild my HD and lost all my cookies/favorites et.
Many Thanks

Hi. First you need to know that the problem is NOT the size of the screen itself. The problem is that the other systems/s need to be running the same RESOLUTION & 'Windows Font Size' as the one that the application was designed in.

That being said, I tried a lot of things until I found a great one that I can e-mail to you. It is free code.
After placed appropriately (and it is easy to do!) if the user does not have the same resolution, they get a message saying that their resolution will change by clicking 'Yes" and then will revert back to original setting when done.
(The only thing is I find that the user has to re-boot when done to get their original resolution back.)

The only thing I have not been able to find an 'automatic'/coding way around is if I programmed in let's ssay 'Windows' display setting of small font' and the user has 'large font' set (or vice-versa'. Then that has to be changed manually.

BUT for most users I have, this resolution code works great!

If you want it e-mailed, let me know.

I have a module which does this, and you do not have to reset the computer..What it does is it resizes the forms etc to fit the resoultion of the users screen...if you are intrested send me your email address...and i will give you a sample database with instructions.

Hi. I would be interested in your code as well.

I don't want to be left out either! If you would be so kind as to email me a copy of your resizing code I would be most appreciative.

You can use a third-party form rescaling module or add-in to do this for you, or write the code yourself (because of the complexity, this is not recommended).

A shareware version of a form rescaling module I wrote called ShrinkerStretcher is available at this web site: http://www.peterssoftware.com/ss.htm

There's a great article about form scaling in last month's SmartAccess newsletter. Check it out here; http://www.smartaccessnewsletter.com

Also, more info is linked here: http://www.mvps.org/access/general/gen0002.htm

Hope this helps,

This would be a life saver!! I would be interested in both solutions. This tends to be a universal problem. I too hope to return the favor someday.

Best Regards
