Auto Numbers

Hi Guys,

I have a field set as an Auto Number.

I entered some text in the field to the right of it...And it generated an Auto Number. ... . Number 1

I then deleted this record, And went to type in my real data, Only to find that the Auto Number started from 2...

How do i reset the Auto Number back to 1?

1)Delete all records from the table
2) Compact your database.

Craig,

Tools --> Database Utilities --> Repair/Compact

As for the Autonumber ...

You really should not care what the Autonumber is, it is
just supposed to be a unique identifier for the record.
Some people use random autonumbers and some are
incremental.

If you needed a nice "serialized" number, then you
will have to supply the value with something like
the DMax function + 1.
