auto predict feature - shorthand words & letters

when i type "U" and press space bar it turns in to "I" (upper case 'i'). is this auto correct that is doing it? I try to look this up about samsung phones but the articles I find are not based on my model. does anyone know where this change would be made? thank you.

There is a list of possibilities as to the cause of this.

1) your phone might be manufactured to do it
2) you might be using a Keyboard app -- like Gboard
3) you might be using a browser (like Chrome and others, which suggest spelling corrections and/or auto correct)
4) you might be on a website or an app that is doing it
....etc, etc. etc.

It's more a question of what platforms you're using at the moment, any one of which may be doing it. Hardware, software, app, browser, etc

I personally use Google keyboard, which means I need to go into Gboard settings to address issues, for the most part...but it will still depend on what else my environment consists of at that moment.

yes i was using the gBoard and yes it was doing it. thank you so much! the next question is....is there any way to fix it?
