Hi,
I have a form that is used for the input of data, majority of the controls in this form are mandatory.

The first data input on the form is an ID number (which is allowed duplicates), what i am looking to do is have Access automatically search to see if that ID number has been added previously and display the record.

I tried to add a macro in the "On Exit" part of the properties for that text box that would invoke the find record module but this doesn't work as there are mandatory fields in the form that are blank.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Luke

Yes nearly all the fields have the potential to have duplicate information input

Hello Luke!

I can suggest you to learn something about DATABASE NORMALIZATION.
Do the NORMALIZATION of your table(s), and make a MAIN FORM and a
SUB FORM.
